Garen Yegparian Expects to be Near or at the Top in Money Raised for Burbank City Council Race
Large number of individual donors shows strength of campaign

Burbank City Council Candidate Garen Yegparian expects his $17,592 total in campaign contributions to be near or atop the list filed at the Burbank City Clerk's office today, Thursday, January 15, 2009. That's when all 13 candidates for the 3 available seats on the Burbank City Council must file their financial statements.

"I'm extremely proud to have more than 160 contributors so far," Yegparian said. "Those who have donated believe in me and believe in my candidacy. With their support, we will run a good, clean campaign and serve all the people of Burbank with integrity."

The average contribution to his campaign was less than $110. With the maximum contribution limit being $250 per person, that means Yegparian has received many small donations.

"During these tough economic times, it's very meaningful to see people reach into their pockets to help improve Burbank's quality of life and ensure accountability at City Hall," Yegparian said. "As we saw with the recent election, small-dollar donors take ownership of the campaign and will help us reach out to voters to ensure we have a strong voice for Burbank in City Hall."

Yegparian points to his longevity in the community and his tireless work on boards and commissions, for the high contribution total.

"I have served on seven Burbank boards and commissions, which is more than any other candidate in the race," Yegparian said. "When you perform on boards & commissions respectably, and your fellow Burbankians enjoy serving with you, they will support your candidacy for City Council with endorsements, money and votes."
