Garen Yegparian is a long time resident, volunteer, and active member of the Burbank community. He's running for City Council because he loves Burbank, and wants to continue serving our community by improving its quality of life, ensuring accountability to get through these difficult economic times, and encouraging involvement in our City.

Garen graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in chemical engineering, and for the past ten years has worked for the City of Los Angeles in the City Clerk's office as a technical research analyst.

A passionate environmental activist, Garen can be found hiking and mountain biking in Burbank's own Verdugo Mountains. Garen's environmental activism was honored by the Sierra Club for a hike series he initiated, which allowed people to interact with their elected officials in natural settings. One of his greatest accomplishments was summiting Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the contiguous United States.

When Garen is not on the trail (campaign or mountain), he's the Chair of Park, Recreation and Community Services Board where he focuses on making more recreational opportunities available in Burbank. He serves on the Transit Services Task Force where he advocates our city's efforts to expand public transit and other travel options. He proudly represents the City on the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy- Advisory Board where he led the effort to secure a $50,000 grant as the first step to building a wilderness camping site for our kids in our very own Verdugo Mountains.

Garen has also been involved in other boards and a range of community issues. He has served on the Burbank Charter Review Committee, the Blue Ribbon Committee on Campaign Finance Reform, and the Burbank Community Development Goals Committee. Outside of government, he has worked to bring people together by working with the ANC-Burbank and the Burbank Human Relations Council.
